Joy is a wonderfully balanced mare with impressive athletic
talent. She wasn't started under saddle until she was in her
late teens, but she has enjoyed learning to carry a rider. Joy spent
the summer of 2003 in VA at
Misty Ridge
Farm being bred to
AF Vanitys Repeat, a magnificent aged son of the
renowned *Silver Vanity. Joy was confirmed in foal 28 days post
ovulation.
10/01/03 UPDATE:
Joy was no longer pregnant when rechecked at 70 days.

AF Vanitys Repeat and AF Joyva
Joy's dam was a daughter of Silver Vanity
so this foal would have been line-bred to Silver Vanity. AF Joyva
and AF Vanitys Repeat were both bred by Doc Artress so this foal
would also have been a concentration of his breeding program.
04/27/04 UPDATE:
Joy's uterine biopsy revealed that she has less than a 10% chance
to carry a foal to term. We are disappointed that we are
unlikely to get a foal out of this spectacular mare. We are considering
using embryo transfer in 2005 to try to get one foal from this
exquisite mare.
05/14/05 UPDATE: We are working with the Equine Reproduction Laboratory at Colorado State University to attempt to get a foal by embryo transfer!!
06/12/05 UPDATE: Joy
developed a uterine infection during the second cycle that we attempted
to breed and collect an embryo. We have treated the infection,
but will cease any further attempts to breed her. She will now
become my primary riding horse and will also serve as a companion to
weanlings and other youngstock. I hope to have some fun showing her in some dressage classes over the next few years.

Joy is a compact mare with a balanced and uphill conformation that is
evident whether she is in motion or standing still.

Joy also shows a striking resemblance to her sire, AM Beau
Triomphe and demonstrates the
natural athletic talent of the
Al-Marah
Double R lines. We particularly value her for her substance,
strong hind quarters, beauty, and quiet sweetness.
